We want to make sure that as many people as possible get the chance to have direct payments.
This page is for those of you who want to know more about it.
Direct payments are for individuals who want to arrange their own support by receiving money rather than care services from Derbyshire County Council.
Most people who use or are looking for Social Care Services should be offered Direct Payments.
If you are not happy with the current level of support that is provided by Social Care Services, direct payments can give you more control and flexibility over the services you can get.
Direct Payments can be used to:
Employ a Personal Assistant
Employ an Agency
Use Day Care Services
Use for Respite or Short Break Care
You don’t have to manage all this on your own so please don’t worry if it sounds complicated! There are people who can help.
Getting Direct Payments
Either talk to your existing Social Worker/Care Manager or telephone the staff at ‘Call Derbyshire’ on 08456 058 058 to arrange for someone to visit you and carry out an initial assessment.
Managing Direct Payments
There is paperwork to fill in to start up direct payments but you will get help to do this.
The only thing you will need is a separate bank account with a cheque book
The Advantages of Employing an Agency
We have a bank of Support Workers available to you.
All our staff are already fully trained and have an enhanced CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check.
There is always someone to look after you if an employee is on holiday or off sick.
There would be no need to worry about advertising for staff, contracts, wages, insurance and liability, training, holiday pay, other costs etc – this is all done for you and included in the agreed hourly rate.
We are governed by CQC (The Care Quality Commission) and have strict Policies and Procedures to adhere to.
We are totally flexible and always available in the case of emergencies.
We can help with all record keeping and assist you with your finances and payments – it is just a matter of receiving and checking our invoice and paying it.
Once you receive your ‘go ahead’ for direct payments contact us and we will do the rest!
